The 30-Day Challenge

Tired of a bad habit but you just don't know how to stop it? The 30-Day Challenge is just right for you.

I am a follower of Bo Sanchez's free weekly soulfood email and the January 23's soulfood entitled "Take The 30-Day Challenge" caught my interest. Here's what you should know first.
"According to psychologists, it takes 21 days to create a new pattern in your life. It takes 21 days to create a mental pathway in your brain, so that it becomes easier for you to do it.
So why not call it the 21-Day Challenge instead of a 30-Day Challenge? I don’t want to take chances. 21-Days is the passing mark. 30-Days is the honor mark!
Here’s the second reason why 30 Days only: It’s more doable.
If someone tells you, “Can you read one hour a day for the rest of your life?”, that can be overwhelming. But if someone tells you, “Can you read one hour a day for the next 30 days?”
All of a sudden, it seems more doable." - Take The 30-Day Challenge by Bo Sanchez

Did I do the challenge? Yes I did and am still doing. I am sure you are curious to know what bad habit I am trying to change. Guess what? It's the habit many teenagers (at 22 I still feel I am a teenager ^^) are into... sleeping and waking up late.

When and how did I start? After a great vacation in Cebu, I went back to Korea on the night of the 28th of January. I pledged to take on the challenge as a kick-off for my year 2012 in Korea. My goal: Sleep at 12 midnight and wake up at 7 in the morning for 30 days.

It's the 13th day since the kick-off. How is my progress? Good! I have been consistent with my goal more than 80% of the time. The 20% that I have to work on is due to Fridays and Saturdays where I tend to sleep and wake up an hour or two later. Overall, I feel accomplished and I feel healthier.

If you succeed changing one bad habit in a month, that would make 12 habits in a year. Amazing right? One habit at a time. Slowly but surely. ^^

If you are ready to take on the challenge too, read the full article at http://bosanchez.ph/take-the-30-day-challenge/. The best time to start is NOW. ^^
